How this newsletter is made
In the spirit of openness, here is the exact playbook behind this newsletter — the sources, the rules, and the process. Anyone is free to learn from it or adapt it.
The pipeline
- Scrape — every morning, a scheduled agent checks the sources below for the last 24 hours of Islamic finance news.
- Curate — it selects 5 stories: at least 3 USA-focused, the rest from the UK, Australia, or Europe. Each gets a short original summary, a plain-English "What to learn" section, and a source link.
- AI watch — on days with a genuine AI × Islamic finance story, one extra item may appear. Never forced, never generic AI news.
- Educate — every edition includes one beginner-friendly "Learn Islamic Finance" explainer, rotated so concepts don't repeat.
- Human review — nothing is published until a human reviews and approves it.
Sources monitored
- Salaam Gateway — Islamic Finance section
- Islamic Finance News (IFN)
- Zawya
- EIN Presswire — Islamic finance monitor
- Fresh daily web searches for USA / UK / Australia / Europe Islamic finance news (Reuters, national press, press wires)
Editorial rules
- Regions: USA, UK, Australia, and Europe only. Stories solely about other regions are excluded unless they directly affect these audiences.
- Freshness: stories from the last 24 hours preferred, 48 hours fallback.
- Original summaries: everything is summarized in our own words — article text is never copied.
- Source links: every story links to its original source page.
- Thin-news fallback: on quiet days, gaps are filled with labeled evergreen guidance pieces (finance / Islamic finance explainers), never filler news.
- AI disclosure: drafts are produced with AI assistance and always reviewed by a human before publishing. Mistakes are possible — corrections are welcome (see About).
Edition structure
Each edition follows the same template: 5 flagged stories (🇺🇸/🇬🇧/🇦🇺/🇪🇺) → optional 🤖 AI watch → 🎓 Learn Islamic Finance explainer → full source list.
